It’s Election Time Again!
Our Governance documents strive to make the election process very transparent. We have limited consecutive terms and term limits. (Terms begin August 1st). Nominees for Board of Director positions are strongly recommended but not required to have served in an office or committee for a year.
If you are interested in running for an Alumnae Association or Board of Directors position, contact Renee Reagan ‘90 at Alumnae@agopotsdam.com by June 1st. Include information about why you would like this position and any relevant experience.
Board of Directors Open Positions
Secretary: 3-year term, limit of two consecutive terms
Responsibilities:
- Keep current on all correspondence of the Sorority.
- Record accurate minutes at all Board of Director meetings and disseminate them accordingly, prior to the next meeting.
- Ensure completion of all Corporate filings.
- Maintain the list for the Board of all Board Officers/Members who signed the required Agonian Sorority Code of Conduct Exhibit 1.
- Keep a list of proposed changes to the Bylaws for the next Governance Document Review Committee.
Member at Large: 3-year term, limit of 2 consecutive terms

Possible Responsibilities to include:
- Work with the AAA Communications Director to update Agonian website information.
- Serve as a liaison to the Potsdam Community and SUNY Potsdam College/Clarkson University.
- Assist Board of Director Officers on key projects, as needed.
- Serve as liaison between the Board of Directors and other Committees such as the Advisory Committee, the Community Service Committee, the AAA Scholarship Committee (If requested by the AAA) and any ad hoc projects or committees required by the Board.
Agonian Alumnae Association Open positions
President: Two-year term, limit of two consecutive terms.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee AAA Officers.
- Lead annual meeting and any other mtgs required for the AAA including phone calls, conference calls, emails.
- Submit a report at the annual AAA meeting.
- Enforce the Agonian Code of Conduct.
- Be an active participant on the Agonian Board of Directors.
- Authorize ad hoc teams as needed. Recruit all team chairs.
- Be impartial on all AAA business matters and votes. However, in case of tie or one less than required vote, the President will vote.
- Work with the AAA Treasurer to annually review and oversee a regular audit of financial books for the AAA.
- Communicate with the Active Sisters about newsletter and scholarship, coordinate and communicate with appropriate Board members.
- Enforce Risk Management Policies at Alumnae gatherings and when Alumnae are interacting with Active members.
- Appoint a Parliamentarian for the annual AAA meeting who shall have Robert’s Rules of Order present. If the Communications Director is not present, appointment a Sister who is present to take meeting minutes, read aloud the minutes of the previous meeting and take attendance.
- In conjunction with the other AAA Officers, appoint an Alumna to temporarily fill an office that is vacant until the next term.
Communications Director: Two-year term, limit of two consecutive terms
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the Agonian website, including information from the AAA, Board of Directors, and Active Sisters.
- Maintain an updated database of addresses and emails of all Agonian Alumnae.
- Coordinate all social media accounts.
- Write thank you notes for dues, donations and any other correspondence on behalf of the AAA.
- Maintain records of the AAA Officers and members who sign the Agonian Sorority Code of Conduct Exhibit 1.
- Submit a report at the annual AAA meeting.
- Submit an annual budget proposal to the Treasurer.
- Participate in regular meetings, phone calls, emails, etc. with the officers of the AAA.
- Email the Anchor working with the Newsletter Team.
- Email requests for dues, Reunion, etc.
- Keep a list of all the proposed changes to the AAA Bylaws.
